Nellorene McCallum

Miss Nellorene McCallum of Broxton, GA passed away at the age of 94 on Monday, April 25, 2016, in Green Cove Springs, FL, following an extended illness. Miss McCallum was born on September 22, 1921 in Broxton, GA, to the late John W. McCallum and Laura Belle McCallum. She was a retired educator of 41 years. She taught at Central Elementary School in Douglas, GA, and Broxton High School before retiring. Her church membership was at Broxton First Baptist Church, where she was actively involved. Nellorene was an active member of the Broxton Womans Club. She also enjoyed meeting with the Broxton Sunshiners and the Senior Citizens of Douglas. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law James and Dorothy McCallum of Ambrose, GA; one nephew, Jimmy (Tammie) McCallum of Ambrose, GA; three nieces, Joy Livesay of Raleigh, NC, Claire (Andy) Quinn of Baxley, GA and Laurie (Roger) Sutton of Kingsland, GA; four great nieces and four great nephews. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 29, 2016 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 4:30 p.m. at Broxton Baptist Church with Rev. Derek Herlocker officiating. Interment will follow at Reedy Branch Baptist Church Cemetery. Sims Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
