Vennie (Highsmith) Batten

Ms. Vennie Batten, age 90, of Douglas, Georgia passed away on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at her residence following an extended illness.

Ms. Batten was born on November 20, 1930 to the late Mack Vinton and Elda Highsmith.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Winston Batten and two brothers: Winton Highsmith of Pridgen, Georgia and M.V. Highsmith of Lakeland, Florida.

Ms. Batten was a homemaker, devoted wife and mother to both her husband and children.  She was not afraid of hard work as she helped her husband for many years on their farm.  She later worked as a sales clerk for B&W and The Fashion Box.

Survivors includes include one son Wendell Batten (Dale), of Douglas, Georgia: two daughters Dianne Duncan (Don, deceased) of Midland Georgia: and Faye Paulk (Ashley) of Ambrose, Georgia.

Four grandchildren:  Amanda Carver, Mitchell Batten, Stacey Lott Hill and Richard Duncan.  Six  great- grandchildren: Caitlin Hill, Meaghan Hill, Evan Hill, Owen Hill, Samantha Duncan and Victoria Duncan.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, May 11, 2021, 4 PM, at Bethany Holiness Baptist Church in Ambrose, Georgia, with Rev. Tommy Green officiating.

Pallbearers; Richard Duncan, Mitchell Batten, Matthew Carver, Evan Hill, Owen, Hill and Troy Highsmith.
