Rev. Carroll W. Carver, age 77, of Willacoochee, Georgia passed away on Saturday, June 26, 2021 in Atlanta, Georgia. Rev. Carver was born on January 9, 1944 in Coffee County, Georgia the son of the late Vincent E. & Vera Harper Carver.
Rev. Carver has been a Pastor for over 25 years, serving churches in Atkinson County and Coffee County. Most recently Rev. Carver has been the Pastor of New Hope Baptist Church, Ambrose, GA for the past 11 ½ years. He also was a veteran of the United States Army and the Georgia National Guard.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Benjie Dyal and a brother-in-law, Clark Thomas.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Ruth A. Carver of Willacoochee, GA; 2 daughters, Becky Mitchell (Roland) of Kirkland, GA and, Denise Dyal of Madison, FL; granddaughter, Cali Dyal of Tallahassee, FL; sister, Othelia Thomas, of Douglas, GA; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, June 29, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Sims Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Illa Baptist Church, Douglas, GA with Dr. Ben Glosson and Rev. Roland Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Military honors will be provided by Ft. Stewart Honor Guard.
Pallbearers will be Cray Grantham, Josh Grantham, Jason Grantham, Vince Thomas, Lyle Gaskins, Scott Kirkland, Kenneth Merritt and, Michael Gaff. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Grantham, Walter Jardine, Jerry Hester, Dennis Paulk, Wendell Sturgis, Vance Rogers, Leon Gaff, Joe Merritt, Waldo Chaney, Andy Jowers, Wayne Vickers, Craig Vickers, Craig Merritt, John Welch, Jim Faunce, Michael Vickers, Eddie Vickers and Walter Huckleby.
Prelude and postlude music will be provided by Tina Kirkland. Musical selections will be “In My Robe of White” and,” I Never been this Homesick Before” by Kevin Andrews and Dewitt Andrews.
