Melvin Sapp, age 77, of Denton, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at Jeff Davis Hospital. Mr. Sapp was born on June 22, 1943 in Coffee County, Georgia the son of the late Warren and Zilpha Miller Sapp.
Mr. Sapp was a farmer and was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Faye Sapp and a daughter, Cynthia Kay Sapp.
Survivors include three grandchildren, Justin Wright of Denton, GA, Jessica W. Maddox (Dustin) of Denton, GA and Jaden Sapp of Hazlehurst, GA; sister, Dixie Bullard (James) of Dublin, GA; brother, Warren L. Sapp (Jelma) of Savannah, GA; three great grandchildren, Kaiden Wright, Jeremy Maddox and Kai Maddox; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2020 at 11:00am at Mt. Pleasant “Byrd” Cemetery with Rev. Doug Weisel officiating. The family will receive friends Friday evening, September 4, 2020 from 6pm until 8pm at Sims Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Earl Carter, Larry Dale King, Hugh Stevens, Tim Stevens, Ryan Acock and Scott Deen.
