Family and friends are mourning the loss of our beloved Margie Conley Spivey. Margie, age 67, passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at home, surrounded by her loving family. She courageously battled ovarian cancer for over a year. Her faith in God & amazing strength guided her throughout this journey. She was a beautiful person inside and out. Her caring, loving nature, and beautiful smile will never be forgotten. She was truly a very special lady to all that knew her.
Margie was born May 15, 1953 in Atlanta, Ga to C. Bud and Ollie Conley. She graduated from Lakeside High School in Atlanta and continued her education at Dekalb College, School of Nursing. She started her nursing career at an Atlanta area OB GYN office. She moved to Douglas in 1984 and soon began her 25 year career at Coffee Regional Medical Center. She retired as the Director of Volunteers and Hospital Foundation in 2018 and then devoted herself to her grandchildren and visits with her sisters. Margie loved spending time with her family, especially during their annual trips to the beach. Margie was a fantastic cook and enjoyed preparing delicious meals for those she loved.
Margie was preceded in death by her Father, C. Bud Conley. She is survived by her Mother, Ollie Conley; Husband, Robert Spivey; Children, Matt (Jessica) McDaniel, Maggie (Chad) Pitts, Blakely (Alex) Harper, & Britton (Buster) Harper; eight grandchildren, Conley & Piper McDaniel, Beau, Julie, & Millie Pitts, Laine & June Harper, & Hamp Harper, whom loved and adored their Gigi; Sisters, Becky Levie, Marianne (Dan) Roberts, Cherry Conley; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A celebration of Margie’s life will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 11:00 AM at The Martin Centre, 109 E Ashley St, Douglas, GA 31533 with Rev. Tim Mock, and Rev. Ed Ayers officiating.
All guests and attendees are required to wear appropriate face-masks and maintain social distancing. The service will be live streamed for anyone wishing to join us but not able to attend.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Coffee Regional Medical Center Foundation or MD Anderson Ovarian Cancer Research in Margie Spivey’s honor.
