Jacquelyn Pridgen Vickers, 89, of Douglas, GA, passed away Monday, March 14, 2022 with her family by her side at Coffee Regional Medical Center. She was born in Pridgen, GA on August 23, 1932 to the late Oscar U. Pridgen, Sr. and Ruth Hill Pridgen.
Mrs. Vickers received her BS in Education from the University of Georgia and her Master and Specialist degree from Valdosta State University. She taught various classes such as Accounting, Business, Typing/Shorthand, and Bookkeeping at Broxton and Coffee County High Schools, and Ben-Hill Irwin Tech. She loved teaching and had an affection for her students that lasted a lifetime.
Mrs.Vickers and her late husband Julian worked hand in hand in real estate development. She was an excellent cook and was known for her delicious desserts and other family favorites. She adored her immediate family, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, friends, caregivers and personnel.
She is survived by: Sons; William Julian Vickers and wife Esther of Statesboro, GA; Wade Jacob Vickers of Douglas, GA; Brother: Oscar U. Pridgen, Jr. and wife Jessie of Statesboro, GA. Grandchildren: Jessica V. Kelsoe and husband Jacob of Madison, TN and William Jeff Vickers of Statesboro, GA. Nieces, Rebecca Head Sidell and husband Neil of Decatur, GA, Lenora Pridgen of Helen, GA, Pamela Smith of Douglas, GA, Charlotte Spell and husband Chris of Statesboro, GA. Nephew, Shane Pridgen of Pridgen, GA. Great nieces and nephews: Jessie A.Turoczi(Andrew), Mekayla Smith, Brooklynn Spell, Raymond Almand, Billy McLean Head III, Frank Head, Joshua Mallard and Briley Smith.
Mrs.Vickers was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Julian Vickers, her brother William Luke (W.L.) Pridgen of Preston, GA., nephew Billy McLean Head, Jr. of Walterboro, SC and her great nephew Jonathan Almand of Smyrna, GA.
A visitation will be held on Monday, March 21st from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Sims Funeral Home followed by a funeral service in Sims Chapel. The Reverend John Wayne Mathews, the Reverend Robert (Bob) Crosby and Danny Dees will be officiating. The interment will take place at a later date.
