William Burt Evans, age 75, of Douglas, Georgia passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2020 at his residence. Mr. Evans was born on December 8, 1944 in Lansing, Michigan the son of the late William Evans and Elizabeth Myers Evans.
Mr. Evans was owner/operator of Evans Construction Company specializing in Dry Wall/Metal Framing, was a heavy equipment operator and a minister. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. Mr. Evans was a member of Church of God of Anderson, Anderson, Indiana and attended First Congregational Church, Douglas, Georgia.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Evans.
Survivors include his wife, Sherry S. Evans of Douglas, GA; daughter, Laura Moore (Luke) of Thomaston, GA; three grandchildren, Josh Herrin (Amanda) of Thomaston, GA, Haley Green of Green Castle, Indiana and Lucas Moore of Thomaston, GA; two great grandchildren, Tucker Green and Chase Green.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 10, 2020 at 11:00 at First Congregational Church with Rev. Matt Rutland and Rev. Frank Criswell officiating with military honors provided by the United States Navy Honor Guard. Interment will follow at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Glennville, GA. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6pm until 8pm at Sims Funeral Home.
Musical selections will be “When the Roll is Called Up Yonder” & “I’ll Fly Away” sung by Matt Rutland with Judy Foskey on piano. Judy Foskey will play prelude and postlude music.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Congregational Church Mission Fund, 1308 North Madison Ave., Douglas, GA 31533.
