Micajah (“Amos”) Vickers, age 90, passed away on Saturday, July 31, 2021, at his home in Douglas, Georgia. Mr. Vickers was born on January 25, 1931, in Coffee County, Georgia, and was the son of the late Micajah J. & Maggie Mills Vickers.
Mr. Vickers spent most of his career in sales for Fleetwood, Ocilla Industries, and Peach State Homes. After retirement from the mobile home industry, he worked with Coldwell Banker Minchew Properties as a real estate agent. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and served in the Korean War. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Victor Vickers and siblings, Lorraine Lott, Sydney Vickers, Colleen Holton, Mildred Vickers, and Marvin Vickers.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Vickers of Douglas, GA; 2 sons, Dr. David Vickers (Jenny) of Douglas, GA, and, Jon Vickers (Lindsey) of Atlanta, GA; daughter, Amy Larkey (Josh) of Douglas, GA; daughter-in-law, Becky Vickers (Victor) of Douglas, GA; 2 sisters, Delsa Houck of Philadelphia, PA and, Irma Jean Schmitt (Haven) of Maquoketa, Iowa; brother, Ralph Vickers (Lynne) of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Allen Vickers, Daniel Vickers, Jason Vickers, Steven Vickers, Will Vickers, Jon Vickers, Jack Vickers, Andrew Larkey, Elizabeth Larkey, Viviannie Vickers, and Scarlett Vickers; as well as several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Douglas City Cemetery with Dr. Don Hattaway officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the United States Navy Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Allen Vickers, Jason Vickers, Steven Vickers, Daniel Vickers, Will Vickers, Jon Vickers, Andrew Larkey and, Jack Vickers.
Attendees are asked to comply with the current guidelines and restrictions concerning containment of the Coronavirus, including social distancing.
