John Bryan McKinnon, age 40, of West Green, Georgia passed away on Friday November 8, 2019 at St. Joseph's Candler Health System, Savannah, Georgia.
Mr. McKinnon was born on May 29, 1977 in Douglas, Georgia the son of Janice Merritt McKinnon and the late Randall Aubrey McKinnon. In addition to his father, John was preceded in death his grandparents, Osbin & Annie Mae Harper and Jessie Ruth McKinnon.
John was known to many as a dedicated copy editor at The Douglas Enterprise, where many reached out to him to have their articles and photos published. He was always eager to help with a smile and a compliment to those requesting. John was extremely talented in decorating, whether it be floral design, special holiday decorations or decorating an entire house. With his big heart and charming nature, he was always able to make his interior design clients feel like special friends. John was especially dedicated to his mother and his family, always taking care of them. His dogs and cats were also like family and he had many over the years.
John exuded class and style. He was always dressed immaculately with perfectly styled hair and a beautiful smile to match. John will be remembered for his love of life and how he treated his friends like royalty. He was always there to answer the call when a friend was in need. He was of the Church of God faith.
Survivors include his mother, Janice M. McKinnon of West Green, GA; brother, Britt McKinnon (Donna) of Farmington, Texas; uncle, Ronnie Merritt (Lourice) of West Green, GA; special nieces, McKenzie Paulk of Douglas, GA and Anna Paulk of Douglas, GA; special cousin, Miranda (Ben) Paulk; special friend, Andrea Taylor of Douglas, GA.
The family will receive friends Monday evening November 11, 2019 from 6pm to 9pm at Sims Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday November 12, 2019 at 11:00am from the Chapel of Sims Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Harper and Rev. Lynette Richardson officiating with Andrea Taylor giving the eulogy. Interment will follow at Calvary Full Gospel Church Cemetery.
