Joe Brown Taylor, age 74, of Douglas, Georgia, passed away on Friday, January 20, 2023 at Coffee Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. Mr. Taylor was born on March 7, 1948 in Athens, Georgia, to the late William Taylor and Nettie Mae Gunter Taylor.

Survivors include: Daughter; Lucy Taylor of Douglas, GA, One Sister; June Deen Of Alma, GA, One Sister-in-Law; Betty Taylor of Douglas, GA, One Niece; Beth Taylor, Five Nephews; Bill Taylor (Laurie Ann), Jeff Deen (Lauren), Brad Deen, Matt McNeil (Lisa), and Mason McNeil (Jennifer) and several great nieces and nephews. Mr. Taylor was preceded in death by; His Parents; William Taylor and Nettie Mae Gunter Taylor, and a Brother; Bill Taylor.

Joe was the owner and operator of Radio Shack and Taylor Piano Company, which the Taylor family ran for over 50 years. He enjoyed working with the community and helping out however he could. He was an avid member of the Douglas Amateur Radio Club, the Coffee County Gun Club, and was a proud CHS Band Booster during his daughter's high school days. He was the Exalted Ruler for the Douglas Elks Lodge. Joe loved being around friends and reminiscing about the past. He enjoyed woodworking and built several pieces of furniture over the years. He's been a member of First Baptist Church for most of his life. Joe was also an animal lover and enjoyed spending time with his furbabies, Holly and Scarlet. Holly accompanied him to work for several years and was usually seen in the passenger seat when he rode around town. They will miss him very much as well.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, from 3:00 pm until 4:00 pm, at The First Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at 4:00 pm, at The First Baptist Church with Dr. Rev. Donald Hattaway and Pastor Shep Johnson officiating. The interment will take place at a later date. Active Pallbearers will be Jeff Deen, Matt McNeil, Mason McNeil, Glen Brown, Eddie McKinnon, and Brent Miller. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Douglas Elks Lodge, members of the CHS Class of 1966, and Sunday School Class Members.

The family requests in lieu of flowers donations can be made to Sims Funeral Home or a charity of your choice.

Memorialization will be by cremation.
