Bob Harless signed my private pilot ticket back in July 2001. He had me plan a flight to Denton, GA, did some maneuvers and headed back to Douglas for some takeoff and landings. The first was a normal approach and landing. After I touched down he said, and I'll never forget these words, "I don't think I've ever flown a pattern so perfect or landed an airplane as smooth as you just did. Take me back to the hangar...we're done here." When we got back, after getting all of the paperwork out of the way, he let me climb all over a P-51 that was sitting outside the hangar. A day in my flying career I will never forget. Blue skies Mr. Harless.....you are one of the good ones.

Going to miss Bob a lot. Always think of him when I see a DC3 , on film, book, or taxying past at an airport around the world.
Gave me my startn in aviation with my Private license, but more than that gave me the relaxed and practical approach to flying that I have tried to maintain throughout my career in the Airlines. Something I also try to pass on to others.
I worked at Harless Aviation for Bob in the 90’s,, as a Flight Instructor, and when I look back now, these were golden years for me, amongst good friends and experiencing new situations almost daily.
Bob was and still is an aviation god to me, and my only regret is that I didn’t get back to Douglas to see him and introduce him to my family.
Love to the Harless family.

Mr. Harless and I became friends, after his vehicle failed to start, at a local convenience store. He was such a joy to share conversation with, over the years. It was through him, that I came to know and visit, with Beth. I am grateful for the friendship, that I shared with him and with Omar.
