John Henry Lee Whitten

John Henry Lee Whitten, age 86, of Douglas, GA passed away on Sunday June 10, 2018 at Coffee Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. Mr. Whitten was born on July 26, 1931 in Bibb County, GA the son of the late John Harrison Whitten and Bessie Tant Whitten.

Mr. Whitten was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Patricia Metts.

He was a retired yarn applicator with Blanch Cotton Mill and was a member of Trinity Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Tarrant Whitten of Douglas, GA; brother, James Whitten of Aiken, SC; step-daughter, Shirley H. Carver of Douglas, GA; step-grandchildren, Daniel Highsmith, Brandon Highsmith, Raegan Newell, Michael Metts and David Metts; 13 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday June 13, 2018 at 2:00pm at Sims Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Floyd Musgrove officiating. Interment will follow at Hebron Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00pm to 9:00pm at Sims Funeral Home.
