Gayle C. Bannister, age 70, of Douglas, Georgia passed away on Thursday May 10, 2018 at Satilla Memorial Hospital, Waycross, Georgia following an extended illness. Mrs. Bannister was born on December 3, 1947 in Cochran, Georgia the daughter to the late David L. Collins and Bertha Fountain Collins.
She worked as a Bookkeeper with Ameris Bank and was a member of the First Baptist Church, Douglas, Georgia.
She was preceded in death by a son, Dusty Bannister.
Survivors include her husband, Clemon “Bo” Bannister of Douglas, GA; two daughters, Stacey L. Farrell and husband Chuck of Leesburg, GA and Kelli G. Schlegel and husband Earl of Leesburg, GA; sister, Carolyn C. Dykes of Byron, GA; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren; acquired sisters, Betty Lowder and husband Glen of Valdosta, GA, Delaine Thomas of Jacksonville, FL and Linda Johnson and husband Jack of Thomasville, GA.
Funeral services were held on Saturday May 12, 2018 at 11:00am from the Chapel of Sims Funeral Home with Rev. Shep Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at 3:00pm at Trail Branch Church Cemetery in Cochran, GA with Elder Blaine Pearce officiating. The family received friends Saturday morning from 9:00am to 11:00am at Sims Funeral Home.
