Estelle Harper Kirkland

Mrs. Estelle Kirkland, age 98, of Douglas, GA passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2018, in Douglas, GA.  Mrs. Kirkland was born on July 16, 1919, in Douglas, Georgia to the late Alonza Harper and Mattie Purvis Harper.

She is survived by her daughter, Donna and husband Lamar Henderson of Nicholls, GA, sons, Marshall and wife Debra Kirkland of Nicholls, GA, Donnie and wife Liz Kirkland of Nicholls, GA; daughter-in-Law, Sarah Ogden of Douglas, GA; 13 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by husband, Donald Kirkland, mother, Mattie Harper, father, Alonza Harper; son, Sammie Ogden; sister; Hazel Burch, Ruth Mercer, Thelma Rickerson and Shirline Walls; brothers, Wallace Harper, Earl Harper, Melvin Harper and Cecil Harper.     

Family will receive friends Wednesday, February 14, 2018 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Sims Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at 3:00 pm at the Chapel of Sims Funeral Home with Rev. Donnie Kirkland officiating and Rev. Bobby Fussell at graveside.

Music for service performed by “Ashley Davis and Iris McElhanney, singing; “Where the Rose Never Faded” and “Mansion Over the Hilltop”.      

Interment followed at Sand Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
