Matthew Jerald Guthrie

Matthew Jerald Guthrie, age 30, of Dublin passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2014.

Matthew was born on November 3, 1983 in Douglas, GA. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Douglas and a former firefighter with the City of Douglas. Currently, he resided in Dublin, and was employed as a correctional officer with the Treutlen PDC. Matthew was also a member of the Laurens County Sportsman Club.

Survivors include his wife, Amanda B. Guthrie of Dublin; parents, Jerald and Peggy Guthrie of Douglas, sisters, Christy (Guy) Smith and Jeanie Levan, both of Florida; mother-in-law, Teresa Barron of Dublin; father-in-law, Kenny (Cheryl) Barron of Dublin and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home from 3:30 pm until 5:30 pm. Funeral services will follow at 6:00 pm in the Chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home in Dublin.

A visitation will also be held on Thursday, July 10, 2014 at Sims Funeral Home in Douglas from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at 5:00 pm on Friday, July 11, 2014 at the First Baptist Church of Douglas with burial to follow in the Douglas City Cemetery. Rev. Shep Johnson will officiate.
