Lee Roy Taylor, age 88, of Wray, GA passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 2014, at Shady Acres Health and Rehab following an extended illness. Mr. Taylor was born on January 27, 1926 in Fitzgerald, GA to the late Joseph Taylor and Mary Ella Walsh Taylor. He served in the US Army during World War II.
Survivors include: his wife, Elsie Nora Mobley Taylor of Wray, GA; son, Glenn (Regina) Taylor of Broxton, GA; three daughters, Teresa (George) Burke of Wray, GA, Miriam (Ken) Corbitt of Broxton, GA, and Betty Long of Wray, GA; eight grandchildren, Monica Watson, Karen Medders, Kimberly Moore, Amy Sears, Tracy Burke, Jason Burke, Hunter Taylor, and Walker Taylor; seven great grandchildren, Alisa Arnold, Erica Medders, Blake Moore, Ansley Moore, Dalton Sears, Kalie Torres, and Rylee Burke; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by two brothers, MJ Taylor and Russell Taylor.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Reedy Branch Baptist Church with Rev. Den Weniger officiating. Eulogy by Tracy Burke. Music is furnished for the service by Trevor Smith "In The Garden" and CD "Beulah Land". Active Pallbearers are: Steve Smith, Fred Smith, Trevor Smith, Steve Sellers, Newton Sellers, and Bryan Moore. Honorary Pallbearers are: Personal of United Hospice, Carl Beecher, Malcolm Roddenberry, W.L. Smith, Bob Floyd, Clyde McClelland, and Deacons of Reedy Branch Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Taylor Family Cemetery. Sims Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
