Jeanne Soar

Jeanne Soar, age 93, of Douglas, GA passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2016, at Manor House following an extended illness. Mrs. Soar was born on August 30, 1922, in Douglas, GA to the late William Maine and Myrtice Hester Maine. Survivors include: her son, Stephen E. Soar; four grandchildren, Vivian McAlister, Sharon Retzler, Eugene H. Soar, and Lynn Fogal; four great grandchildren, Marc McAlister, Alex McAlister, Heather Morales, and Evan Fogal; one great-great grandchild, Scarlet Morales; sister Sherry Ann Cross; brother, Phillip "Freddie" Mayne; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Albert Soar; two daughters, Vivian Soar and Peggy Caves; a brother, William Maine, Jr.; and two sisters, Ann Thibault and Doris Belger. Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Shep Johnson officiating. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Douglas, GA. Sims Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
