Hortense Reaves Day

Hortense Reaves Day, age 97, of Douglas, Ga. passed away on Tuesday, August 1, 2017, at her residence following an extended illness. Mrs. Day was born on February 27, 1920, in Jacksonville, Ga. to the late William Jackson Garrison and Charlotte Wall Garrison.

Survivors include: her four daughters, Charlotte V. (David) Nettles of Willacoochee, Ga., Nell R. (David) Green of Jacksonville, Fla., Kay (Joel Parrish) Reaves of Douglas, Ga., and Sharon (Mike) Harper of Macon, Ga.; two sons, Roger (Marrie) Reaves of Santa Barbara, Ca. and Larry (Laura) Reaves of Virginia Beach, Va.; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her two husbands, William J. Reaves and George Day; a daughter, Marijo Steverson; several brothers and sisters.

The family will receive friends Friday, August 4, 2017 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m at Sims Funeral Home.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Sims Funeral Home with Rev. Den Weniger officiating. Interment will follow at Bethlehem (Sand Hill) Methodist Church Cemetery. Sims Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
