Colon Eli Smith

Colon Eli Smith, Sr., age 90, of Axson, Ga. passed away on Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at his residence following an extended illness. Mr. Smith was born on August 13, 1926, in Hahira, Ga. to the late Charles Smith and Elizabeth Arnold Smith.

Survivors include: his wife, Arlene Smith of Axson, Ga.; daughter, Betty (Ronnie) Hall of Ona, Fla.; three sons, Bobbie (Lynn) Smith of Murphy, NC, Wayne (Angie) Smith of Broxton, Ga., and Billy (Rygene) Smith of Boston, Ga.; two sisters, Irene Courson of North Carolina and Pauline Smith of Ft. Myers, Fla.; eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by a son, Colon E. Smith, Jr. and several brothers.

The family will receive friends Friday, July 28, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m at Sims Funeral Home.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Sims Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Musgrove officiating. Interment will follow at Griffin Cemetery. In Lieu of Flowers memorials maybe made to Pruitt Health Hospice, 407 Cowart Ave., Valdosta, Ga. 31602. Sims Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
